Women's Volleyball Notches Wins Over Vassar and Morrisville

Poughkeepsie NY- Geneseo ends Friday with two huge wins over Vassar and Morrisville, winning 3-0 and 3-2 respectively.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • Geneseo started their first match against Vassar down 9-2 but thanks to great defense from the team, they tied it up 13-13. Geneseo and Vassar went back and forth on points, with Maddi Baumann tallying four kills during the set. Zooey Gagnier took it home for the Knights with a final ace to give them the 25-22 victory in the first.

  • In the second set, Geneseo saw similar play, with both teams trading points throughout the set. Peyton Cole and Ayla Pas'cal both had dominant performances during the set and the Knights took set two 25-20.

  • With the momentum of two wins under their belt, the Knights fought hard during the third set, with a block by Jenna Garvy and Pas'cal to bring the team to victory. The Knights won 25-22.

  • The team took the momentum from their win over Vassar into their game against Morrisville and started with a six-point run. They maintained control over the Mustangs and took the first set 25-19.

  • Morrisville came out strong in the second and the Knights could not get into a rhythm. Morrisville won set two 25-19.

  • The Mustangs continued this performance and controlled set three, topping the Knights 25-12.

  • Now with a fire under their belt, the Knights bounced back and capitalized on Morrisville's errors. Maddi Gamberg and Cole both had great kills to help lead the team to the 25-19 victory and force set five.

  • In the fifth, Geneseo traded points until Gagnier took the team on a 6-point run with her service aces and defense. Pas'cal sealed the deal with the final kill of the game and the knights won 15-12.
