GENESEO, N.Y. - The SUNY Geneseo men's lacrosse team dominated Oswego on Wednesday night, winning 17-3 and earning a trip to the SUNYAC Championship for the sixth consecutive season. The Knights will look to defend their title against Potsdam on Saturday afternoon at College Stadium with a 1 p.m. start.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Sophomore Ronnie Trebing scored first for the Knights on a man-up opportunity at 9:10 in the first quarter. Senior Kevin Mouton provided the assist on the play.
- Senior Robert Boneillo struck next for the Knights on a behind-the-back goal at 6:43 in the first and graduate student William McCumiskey picked up the assist.
- McCumiskey extended the Knights' lead to three with nine seconds left in the first quarter.
- Geneseo remained dominant in the second quarter, adding another five goals before the half. McCumiskey struck again to wrap up the half and the Knights took an 8-0 lead into the locker room.
- Boneillo found the back of the net to start the second half at 13:20 in the third quarter and senior Cole Bollin was credited with the assist.
- McCumiskey completed his hat trick to put the Knights up 11-0 in the third. Ronnie Trebing added the 17th and final goal for Geneseo with 5:15 left, assisted by his brother Ryan Trebing.
QUICK FACTS:
- Junior goaltender Andrew Tittman started in net for the Knights and recorded 11 saves on 13 shots to earn a .846% save percentage.
- Geneseo has won the past six matchups against Oswego, including a season sweep over the Lakers this season.
- The Knight's defense was relentless throughout the game, causing 18 total turnovers compared to five from Oswego.
- Senior faceoff specialist BB Syrop filled the stat sheet, winning 8/13 of his faceoffs while recording five groundballs, and a goal.
