Men's Lacrosse Celebrates Senior Day With 20-3 Win Over Plattsburgh

GENESEO, N.Y. - The SUNY Geneseo men's lacrosse team cruised past Plattsburgh on senior day, 20-3. The Knights finished their regular season with an 11-6 overall record and 6-1 in SUNYAC conference play to secure the No. 2 overall seed for the postseason tournament. BB Syrop also recorded his 500th career faceoff win to highlight the Knights victory.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • Junior Riley Henselder started the scoring for the Knights with 13:56 left in the first quarter and Graduate student Brady Sullivan got the assist.
  • The Knights dominated the first quarter, outscoring the Cardinals 7-0. Senior Cole Bollin added goals at 9:39 and 8:59 during the run.
  • Henselder found the back of the net at 14:26 in the second quarter to continue the Knights' scoring run.
  • Graduate student William McCumiskey capped the Knights dominate first half with a goal with 1:36 left in the second. Geneseo went into the half up 11-0.
  • Junior Jimmy Atkinson finished off a 15-0 run by scoring with 8:20 left in the third quarter and sophomore Max Espositio got the assist.
  • Junior Cody Dickinson scored his first career goal at 5:33 in the fourth quarter from an assist by senior Kevin Mouton. Dickinson's goal finished off a big 20-3 conference victory for the Knights.
QUICK FACTS:
  • Senior faceoff specialist BB Syrop went a perfect 14-14 from the "X" while recording his 500th career faceoff win.
  • Riley Henselder and Kevin Mouton both recorded a game-high three goals and recorded an assist during play.
  • Junior Andrew Tittmann started in net for the Knights and kept a clean sheet while facing two shots on target.
  • The Knights were 14/14 on clear attempts while holding the Cardinals to 21/29 during four quarters of action.

The Knights will host the SUNYAC semi-finals on Wednesday, May 1st, at 6 p.m. at College Stadium against Oswego.
