Brown Notches 200th Career Point, Geneseo Wins 19-6

GENESEO, N.Y. - The SUNY Geneseo women's lacrosse team hosted Buffalo State and came away with a 19-6 victory on Wednesday afternoon. Molly Brown, who scored her 100th career goal earlier in the season, tallied her 200th career point against the Bengals. The Knights are now 9-3 overall and 4-1 in conference play on the season. 

HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • The Knights took an early 4-0 lead in the first four minutes of action against the Bengals. Caitlyn Korzeniewski, Megan Cook (2), and Molly Brown each tallied scores in the sequence. A pair of goals scored by Alaina Reina put Geneseo up 6-1 midway through the first quarter before Mo. Brown and Maddie Brown added the final two goals of the quarter to give the Knights an 8-2 lead after 15 minutes.
  • Geneseo continued their dominance in the second frame as Reina bookended the quarter with two more goals. Regan Vorgang, Ma. Brown (2), and Rachel Dickinson each found the back of the net as well, as the Knights went to halftime with a 14-2 lead. 
  • Dickinson and Maddie Ugine found the back of the net halfway through the third quarter before Ma. Brown, Olivia Luchetti, and Natalie Long also found the back of the net to give Geneseo a 19-3 lead into the final period.
  • Buffalo State added three more goals in the final quarter but couldn't work towards a comeback as the Knights earned a 19-6 victory.
QUICK FACTS:
  • Ma. Brown led the offense with five points while tying with Reina for most goals with four.
  • Sarah Ginnane led the squad in ground balls with three, while Bella Nicastro recorded a team-high four caused turnovers against the Bengals. 
  • Goaltenders Emily DeJohn and Holly Indelicato combined for two saves in the win.

  • The Knights will travel to Potsdam to take on the Bears in another SUNYAC matchup on Saturday, Apr. 13 at 11 AM.
