Women's Lacrosse Loses to No. 3 William Smith College

GENEVA, N.Y. - The SUNY Geneseo Women's Lacrosse team suffered their first loss of the season, falling 16-9 to No. 3 William Smith College. The Knights now sit at 3-1 overall on the season. 

HOW IT HAPPENED: 
  • Rachel Dickinson scored the first goal for Geneseo at 10:46 in the first quarter off a pass from Alaina Reina. The man-up goal tied the score at 1-1.
  • After two unanswered goals by William Smith, Molly Brown answered back with an unassisted goal of her own. 
  • Four minutes into the second quarter, Megan Cook tallied an unassisted goal. The Knights headed into halftime trailing 3-6. 
  • Caitlyn Korzeniewski had an incredible free position goal in the third period, while Rachel Dickinson scored her second of the night shortly after. 
  • With just 48 seconds left in the third, Emily Salanger scored the teams sixth goal off an assist from Cook. 
  • Korzeniewski tallied two more goals in the fourth period, one unassisted and one from Reegan Vorgang
  • Geneseo ended the night with a loss against the Herons with a score of 16-9.

QUICK FACTS:
  • Caitlyn Korzeniewski scored her second hattrick of the season, putting her at nine points on the season. 
  • Rachel Dickinson had two goals of her own. 
  • Goaltender Emily DeJohn had a total of nine saves, her highest of the season thus far.

Geneseo will head to Florida for spring break and will take on Dickinson on Monday at 8 p.m. ET.
