Molly Brown Records 100th Career Goal as Women's Lacrosse Opens Spring Break Against Dickinson

Panama City Beach, F.L. - The SUNY Geneseo women's lacrosse team opened their Spring Fling Games with a tough 16-15 overtime loss against Dickinson College on Monday evening. Highlighting the game for the Knights was Molly Brown, who tallied her 100th career goal in the game, becoming just the 17th player in program history to achieve the feat. Geneseo falls to 3-2 on the season with the defeat.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • The Knights took the momentum early in the game, with Alaina Reina and Maira Brennan converting man-up goals in the first five minutes for a 2-0 advantage.
  • Dickinson fought their way back to eventually take a 6-5 lead with just over five minutes remaining in the first half, but Geneseo's offense went on a 4-0 tear to close out the half. Molly Brown scored twice in the run, while Reina found the back of the net with just one second on the clock to make it a 9-6 advantage at halftime.
  • The Red Devils fought back to start the second half, going on a 4-0 run of their own. With the game tied at 11-11 heading to the final 15 minutes, Megan Cook, Maddie Brown, Brennan, and Molly Brown all scored early in the period to give the Knights a 15-13 lead.
  • Unfortunately, Dickinson was able to tie the game late and force an overtime period, where they were able to find the back of the net on their opening possession to get the 16-15 win.
QUICK FACTS:
  • Molly Brown moved to 16th all-time in program history in goals scored, posting a game-high seven points on five goals and two assists.
  • Caitlyn Korzeniewski led the team in assists with three, while Brennan and Reina each chipped in three points of their own.
  • Emily DeJohn played the entire game in goal for the Knights and picked up seven saves, while Reina and Sarah Ginnane each recorded a team-high three caused turnovers.
