Women's Lacrosse Comes Out On Top Over Oswego

OSWEGO, N.Y. - The SUNY Geneseo women's lacrosse team traveled to Oswego to take on the Lakers in their first SUNYAC game of the year on Wednesday afternoon. The Knights came out on top, 11-7 and are now 5-2 overall and 1-0 in conference play on the season.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • The Lakers got on the board first, but the Knights fought back and scored three consecutive goals to go up by two less than four minutes into the first quarter. Following another goal by Oswego, Alaina Reina scored two straight in the final three minutes to keep Geneseo up by three.
  • Opening the second quarter, Emily Salanger extended the Knights lead to four. Following two straight goals by Oswego, Maddie Brown struck for Geneseo with a goal down a man. Less than one minute later, up by a man, Rachel Dickinson found the back of the net to seal Geneseo's 8-4 lead at the half.
  • The third quarter saw the defenses shine as both squads each only scored once in the period. Emily Salanger added a free-position goal to extend Geneseo's lead to five before a last second goal by the Lakers shortened Geneseo's lead to four.
  • The Knights added two goals in the final quarter, with Reina and Salanger recording one each. The Lakers scored two-straight goals in the final minutes, but could not muster a comeback as Geneseo came away with the 11-7 victory.
