Men's Lacrosse Loses Close Game to St. John Fisher

Geneseo, N.Y.- The SUNY Geneseo men's lacrosse team lost in a nailbiter to the St. John Fisher Cardinals on Wednesday night, 14-13. The Knights fell to 5-5 on the season and remained 0-1 in conference play.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • Senior attacker Cole Bollin started his strong performance when he equalized the game at 1-1 at 9:14 in the first quarter.
  • The Cardinals dominated the second quarter and went on a run to close out the half, going up 7-4 over the Knights.  
  • While Geneseo and Fisher exchanged goals to start the third, Bollin kickstarted their comeback with his second goal of the night at 11:38. 
  • The third quarter ended tied at nine. Graduate student William McCumiskey, senior Robert Boneillo, senior BB Syrop, and Cole Bollin all scored during the Knight's third-quarter comeback. Bollin added an assist during the quarter.
  • The fourth quarter was closely contested until the end. St. John Fisher was able to outlast the Knights, scoring the game-winning goal with 1:54 left to play in the game. The game ended with a final score of St. John Fisher 14, Geneseo 13.
QUICK FACTS:
  • Cole Bollin recorded a career-high four goals during the contest. Bollin also added an assist and five shots on goal.
  • Jimmy Atkinson currently leads the Knights with 20 goals in 10 games and is averaging 3.0 points per game.
  • The Knights went a perfect 18/18 on clear attempts, while Fisher went 15/17.

  • The Knights (5-5) will travel to Oneonta (4-4) to take on the Red Dragons in a SUNYAC matchup on Saturday, March 30th, at 1 pm.
