Men's Lacrosse Dominates Fourth Quarter To Win 16-10 Over Oneonta

Oneonta, N.Y.- The SUNY Geneseo men's lacrosse team took down Oneonta on the road, 16-10. The Knights' 6-point run in the fourth quarter boosted them to a 6-5 overall record on the season and 1-1 in SUNYAC conference play.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • The Red Dragons opened the scoring at 12:51 in the first quarter. Senior BB Syrop responded by winning the faceoff and tying the game at 12:04.
  • The Knights went on a scoring run to end the first quarter. Graduate student Brady Sullivan started the run at 9:48, assisted by senior Robert Boneillo.
  • Senior Cole Bollin scored his first goal of the afternoon and was followed by graduate student William McCumiskey adding a pair to close out the first quarter. The Knights ended the first quarter up 5-2.
  • Junior Jimmy Atkinson and Brady Sullivan each tallied one in the second quarter and put the Knights up 7-5 to end the first half.
  • Sullivan started the second half where he left off in the first and scored just over a minute into the third quarter. Boniello scored again at 9:52 and the Knights held a slim 9-8 lead at the end of the third.
  • The Knights came out hot in the fourth quarter and went on a six-goal run to close out the game. Jimmy Atkinson tallied his fifth hat trick of the season, scoring three goals on the run. In addition, Sullivan scored one, Bollin added a pair, and freshman Maddox Gorney added his fifth goal of the season. The game ended with Geneseo 16, and Oneonta 10.
 
QUICK FACTS:
  • Senior faceoff specialist BB Syrop was dominant during the game. Syrop won 20/28 of his match-ups and recorded 5 groundballs.
  • Graduate student Brady Sullivan was aggressive in front of the net. Sullivan recorded a game-high four goals on six shots on goal.
  • Junior goaltender Andrew Tittman recorded 10 saves on 24 shots on goal to finish with an impressive .583% save percentage.
 
WHAT'S NEXT:
The Knights (6-5) will host the Potsdam Bears (6-2) on Friday, April 5th, at 4 pm at College Stadium.
