Men's Lacrosse Falls at Cortland

Cortland, N.Y. - The SUNY Geneseo men's lacrosse team fell on the road at Cortland, 13-6. The Knights moved to 5-4 on the season and 0-1 in conference play after dropping the rematch of the SUNYAC final from the 2023 season.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • Graduate student Brady Sullivan put the Knights up at 12:05 left in the first quarter. Sullivan's shot rolled through the Cortland goaltender and found the back of the net.
  • Graduate student William McCumiskey fought through a big hit and sniped the ball into the top left corner at 0:54 to wrap up the first quarter. The half ended with a score of Cortland 7, Geneseo 2.
  • Senior Kevin Mouton scored at 0:51 left in the third quarter on a man advantage with a low shot past the goalie. Junior Riley Henselder added the assist on the play.
  • Junior Jimmy Atkinson added his 18th goal of the season at 9:48 in the final quarter. Atkinson converted a breakaway to tally for the Knights.
  • The Knights wrapped up the game by adding two more after Atkinson. Atkinson scored one at 2:14 off an assist from junior Ian Kane and then senior Robert Boneillo scored with 18 seconds left, assisted by McCumiskey. However, Cortland walked out with a 13-6 victory over Geneseo.
QUICK FACTS:
  • The Knights struck first in their past three matchups (Maritime, Alfred, Cortland). They are now 5-1 after scoring the first of the game and 0-3 when the opponents scored first.
  • Geneseo won the faceoff battle 14-8. Faceoff specialists BB Syrop won 12/19 faceoffs and Jake Starkey won 2/3.
  • Junior goalie Andrew Tittmann was tested with 29 shots on goal. Tittman recorded 16 saves with a .522% save percentage throughout the game.
