Alfred, N.Y.- The SUNY Geneseo men's lacrosse team beat Alfred University on Wednesday afternoon, 15-4.
William McCumiskey's four-goal performance put him over the 100-career point mark and proved too much for the Saxons, advancing the Knights to a 5-3 record.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Senior Robert Boneillo scored first for the Knights at 11:02 in the first quarter.
- Graduate student William McCumiskey started a run for the Knights after he found the back of the net at 8:26 in the first. Following McCumiskey, Riley Henselder scored once, and Jimmy Atkinson added a pair of his own. Senior BB Syrop added an assist on Atkinson's first goal.
- The Knights dominated the second quarter and went on a five-goal run to close out the first half. McCumiskey started the streak with a goal assisted by Jimmy Atkinson. Senior Ethan Cone added the final goal of the half at 0:43. The half ended with a score of Geneseo 10, Alfred 3.
- The Knights picked up where they left off to start the second half. McCumiskey scored his third goal of the game under a minute into the third quarter. He added another a minute later off a pass from senior Cole Bollin.
- Geneseo scored ten straight before Alfred scored the final goal at 1:31 left in the game. The final ended with Geneseo 15, Alfred 4.
QUICK FACTS:
- The forward tandem of Henselder and McCumiskey combined for seven goals on thirteen total shots.
- Junior goaltender Andrew Tittman recorded five saves in 51 minutes in the cage.
- Geneseo out-shot Alfred 47 to 24 through four quarters.
