Atkinson Records 100th Career Point As Men's Lacross Caps Off Spring Break With A 17-11 Win Over Maritime

Throgs Neck, N.Y.- The SUNY Geneseo men's lacrosse team ended their road trip with a victory at SUNY Maritime, 17-11. Junior Jimmy Atkinson recorded his 100th career point and helped the Knights move to 4-3 on the season. 

HOW IT HAPPENED: 
  • Geneseo took an early lead after Junior Riley Henselder scored the opening goal at 12:08, and was assisted by Jimmy Atkinson
  • The Knights went on a four-goal run to end the first half. Senior Robert Boneillo netted a pair, then Jimmy Atkinson and Graduate Student William McCumiskey tallied one each to end the half. Geneseo led at halftime 8-6. 
  • Boniello scored six seconds into the fourth quarter to start a five-goal run for the Knights. Following Boniello, McCumiskey added one graduate student Brady Sullivan scored twice, and Henselder found the back of the net again to extend the Knights' lead to 15-8. 
  • Riley Henselder scored at 3:31 in the fourth quarter on a goal assisted by William McCumiskey. Henselder then returned the favor a minute later, assisting McCumiskey on the final goal of the game to extend the Knight's lead to 17-11. 
QUICK FACTS: 
  • Jimmy Atkinson recorded his 100th career point during the contest. Atkinson tallied six total points with three goals and three assists in the game. 
  • Riley Henselder put up a career-high eight points on three goals and five assists. Helselder led the game in total points and shots on goal with nine. 
  • Faceoff specialist BB Syrop went 18-26 on faceoffs and recorded a game-high nine groundballs. 
  • Junior goalie Andrew Tittmann recorded 14 saves in the victory. 
WHAT'S NEXT: 
The Knights will head to Alfred University on Wednesday, March 20th, at 4 p.m. to take on the Saxons.
