Softball Tops Wheaton, Falls To No. 8 Case Western

KISSIMMEE, F.L. - The SUNY Geneseo softball picked up a close 3-2 win over Wheaton on Thursday afternoon, while falling to No. 8 Case Western in the morning. The Knights move to 3-7 overall on the season.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • Against Case Western, Sydney Bolton was on the rubber and helped lead the Knights in a defensive battle through the first five innings of the game. However, with the score tied at 0-0 in the sixth, the Spartans were able to pull away and earn the 6-0 victory.
  • In the afternoon game, Wheaton struck first, but the Knights answered with three runs in the bottom of the first inning.
  • Brooke Fraas picked up the first RBI, scoring Tori Guary. Ray Schumacher was up next and smoked a double to left field to score Fraas and Rebecca Schwartz.
  • Geneseo's defense held strong the rest of the game, keeping any comeback attempts from Wheaton at bay and the Knights were able to earn the 3-2 win.
QUICK FACTS:
