Men's Lacrosse Battles No. 1 Salisbury, Falls 16-6

SALISBURY, M.D. - The SUNY Geneseo men's lacrosse team hit the road for spring break, traveling to Maryland to take on top-ranked Salisbury Thursday evening. The Knights were unable to pull off the upset, falling 16-6 to the Sea Gulls and dropping to 3-3 overall on the season.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • The Sea Gulls were able to strike first in the opening minute of play, but Jimmy Atkinson and the Knights offense had the answer on the ensuing possessino, tying the game at 1-1.
  • Salisbury was able to find their rhythm to close out the first quarter, taking a 7-1 advantage into the second. Kevin Mouton added a goal for Geneseo in the quarter off an assist from Robert Boneillo.
  • A few minutes after Mouton's goal, William McCumiskey netted his first goal of the game.
  • Mouton and McCumiskey both found the back of the net for a second time in the second half, while Cole Bollin scored the final goal of the game for the Knights as they fell 16-6.
QUICK FACTS:
  • McCumiskey led the way in points with three, pushing his season total to 10. Atkinson's goal improved his team-lead in points to 17.
  • Andrew Tittmann played all 60 minutes in goal, tallying 13 saves.
  • Sean Elliott led the team in ground balls with seven.

Geneseo will head to SUNY Maritime on Saturday, March 16 at 12 p.m.
