Fredonia, N.Y.- The SUNY Geneseo men's hockey team came out hot against the Fredonia Blue Devils (6-15-1) on Friday on the road and continue to hold first place spot in the SUNYAC. The Ice Knights improved to a record of (19-4-0) and (12-2-0) in conference play with excellent performances from
Alex Dameski and
Tyson Gilmour.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Geneseo struck hard and fast in the first, with senior Nathan Poolman scoring at the one-minute mark. Assisting him in the play was Jared Thomas after his face off win.
- Fredonia scored at the three-minute mark.
- Sophomore Alex Dameski had a beautiful one-timer off the face off win by Tyson Gilmour with 7 minutes left.
- Peter Morgan scored his first goal off a cross-crease pass from Gilmour at 16:48. Sterling Wolters is credited with the second assist.
- Fredonia scored first in the second period at six minutes in.
- Gilmour had an impressive steal in the Fredonia zone, hitting top shelf unassisted.
- Jared Thomas picked up the rebound to tally his first goal of the night. Luke Panchisin was credited with the assist.
- Fredonia scored in the last minutes of the second, making it 5-3 Geneseo.
- Dameski came out hot in the third, scoring his second of the night forty seconds into the period.
- Fredonia answered with their own goal right after.
- Dameski netted his second hattrick of the season on a power-play for Geneseo. With him on the play were Luke Panchisin and Tyson Gilmour
QUICK FACTS:
- Morgan's goal marked his 100th career point for the Ice Knights.
- Sophomore forward Alex Dameski notched his second hattrick of the season. This puts him at 18 goals for the season and he leads the Ice Knights in that regard.
- Junior goaltender Adam Harris made 22 saves in the net tonight, giving him a .930 SV% on the season.
