Men's Basketball Battles #6 Oswego, Falls 79-59

GENESEO, N.Y. - The SUNY Geneseo men's basketball team took on #6 Oswego on Friday evening in Schrader Gym, but they were unable to come out with the upset and ultimately fell 79-59. The loss drops the Knights to 11-12 on the season and 8-8 in SUNYAC play.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • The Knights came out strong, with back-to-back three's from Cole Kattan and Michael Gentile giving Geneseo a 10-7 lead just four minutes into the action. Two more three point shots from Kattan and Gentile helped the Knights go up 18-10.
  • As the half went on, the Lakers were able to mount a comeback, and eventually went into the second half with a 39-32 advantage.
  • In the second half, Geneseo was able to hang with Oswego early on. A jump shot by Robert Pericolosi cut the deficit to six points at 43-37, but Oswego was able to keep the momentum away from the Knights and earned the 79-59 win.
QUICK FACTS:
  • Kattan led Geneseo with 14 points, while Pericolosi and Gentile chipped in 13 and 11, respectively.
  • Josh Garelle also posted a solid performance for Geneseo, tallying nine points and a team-high nine rebounds.
WHAT'S NEXT?
The Knights will host Cortland for Senior Day tomorrow at 4 p.m. in Schrader Gym.
