GENESEO, N.Y.- The SUNY Geneseo men's basketball team won at home against conference foe Cortland Saturday night, 72-65. The win improves the Knight's record to 12-12 and 9-8 in SUNYAC play. The Knights honored seniors
Cole Kattan and
Noah Fancher with a brief pre-game ceremony.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Right out of the gate, both teams traded baskets and found themselves tied at 13-13 nine minutes into the action.
- Cortland was the first to grab momentum and went on a 14-3 run to take a lead of 27-16 with under 7 minutes remaining in the half. Geneseo then answered and went on a 16-5 run of their own capped off by a three-pointer by Robert Pericolosi to tie the score 32-32 going into halftime.
- Both teams exchanged baskets through the first 10 minutes of the first half, but thanks to good free throws by Justin Yearwood, the Knights took a 56-52 lead with 6:25 remaining.
- In the final five minutes of play, Geneseo was able to slowly grow their lead thanks to baskets by Michael Gentile and clutch free throws by Cole Kattan. The Knights walked away with a huge 72-65 win at home in their push for a SUNYAC playoff spot.
