Women's Basketball Comes Up Short At New Paltz

NEW PALTZ, N.Y. - The SUNY Geneseo women's basketball traveled to New Paltz and fell 66-59 to the Hawks. The Knights now sit at 15-7 overall and 10-5 in SUNYAC play this season.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • Geneseo went on a seven-point run early in the first quarter with senior guard Kiley Snow hitting a three during the run. A late jumper from senior guard Kelly McLaughlin put the Knights up by one but they went into the second quarter down 17-13.
  • The Knights found themselves down by 13 with less than two minutes to play in the first half, but a late run highlighted by a last second layup from junior guard Mackenzie Reigle brought them back to within seven heading into the break.
  • A six-point run brought Geneseo back to within four with under five minutes remaining in the third period. The Knights, however, went into the final quarter down 52-41.
  • The Knights' senior forward Kerry Dennin got the scoring started with an early layup, and a nine-point run towards the end of the frame cut Geneseo's deficit to six. Their comeback attempt was halted, though, as New Paltz hit crucial shots to seal their 66-59 victory.
QUICK FACTS:
  • Reigle led the Knights in scoring with 16 points, while Snow followed with 11.
  • Dennin led the team in rebounds with 10, while Reigle had a team-high three assists against the Hawks.
