NEW PALTZ, N.Y. - The SUNY Geneseo men's basketball team was unable to pull out a tough road victory at New Paltz on Saturday afternoon, falling 84-61. The loss drops the Knights to 11-11 overall and 8-7 in SUNYAC action.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

• Geneseo got off to a slow start, with the Hawks jumping ahead 7-0 before Cole Kattan put them on the board with a layup. Kattan's bucket got the offense rolling, as they went on a 9-2 run and to tie the game up.
• Later in the half, the Knights took their first lead of the game off a three from Justin Yearwood at the 11 minute mark. Geneseo went on to lead by as much as six at 19-13, but the Hawks defense found a way to lock down the Knights as they took a 32-21 lead to halftime.
• Unfortunately, Geneseo was unable to find the momentum they needed to complete a comeback attempt in the second half, and New Paltz pulled away with the 84-61 win.

QUICK FACTS:

• Kattan led all scorers in the game with 20 points, while Josh Garelle and Michael Gentile each chipped in 10 of their own.
• Robert Pericolosi was dominant on the boards for the Knights, tallying a game-high 11.
