Women's Basketball Celebrates Senior Day With Win Over Cortland

GENESEO, N.Y. - The SUNY Geneseo women's basketball team hosted the Cortland Red Dragons and took down their conference rivals 59-52 on Senior Day. The Knights now sit at 17-7 overall and 12-5 in SUNYAC play this season.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • Senior forward Kerry Dennin opened up scoring for the Knights with a layup to put the team on the board. A seven-point run jump started by a made three from graduate guard Hannah Stokman put Geneseo up by two. The Knights went to the second quarter down 15-14.
  • Senior guard Kiley Snow hit an early three-pointer to give Geneseo the lead once again. Neither team was able to put up points for nearly five minutes in the middle of the frame but four late points from sophomore guard Maggie McGrane along with a last-minute layup from Dennin sent the Knights to halftime up by four.
  • Geneseo's range was displayed early out of the break as Stockman and Snow hit back-to-back three-pointers to extend the Knights' lead to eight. McGrane added another three in the final seconds of the frame to make it 44-38 heading to the fourth quarter.
  • The Knights' solid defense kept them in the lead throughout the fourth, and late free throws from Dennin and McGrane sealed the 59-52 Senior Day victory.
