HARTFORD, C.T. - The SUNY Geneseo men's basketball team traveled to #3 Trinity on Monday evening, and were unable to pull off the upset, falling by a score of 72-44. The Knights fall to 3-4 on the season while the Bantams improve to 10-0.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Geneseo quickly jumped ahead of Trinity, leading 6-0 after a pair of baskets from Drew Morrow and Robert Pericolosi. Josh Garelle kept the Knights ahead early on, knocking down two shots to hold the lead at 10-7 with just over 14 minutes left to play.
- Trinity was able shift the momentum back in their favor before halftime, but the Knights defense was able to keep the game within reach going to halftime as they held the Bantams to 27 points.Â
- Trailing by eight points at the start of the second half, Geneseo continued to keep the pressure on to try and close the gap. However, the Bantams were able to pull away in the second half to earn the 72-44 win.
QUICK FACTS:
- Pericolosi led the offense with 14 points on 6-12 shooting, he also led the team in rebounding with nine.
- The matchup marked only the second time in program history the two teams met, with the previous meeting happening in 1974.
WHAT'S NEXT?
Geneseo will play in the consolation game of the Trinity tournament tomorrow at noon, facing the loser of the WPI and Suffolk game.
