ALBANY, N.Y. - The SUNY Geneseo women's volleyball team finished regular season Empire 8 action on Saturday, Nov. 2 at Sage, where they Knights ultimately fell in straight sets 26-24 25-13 and 25-19. The loss drops Geneseo to 9-15 on the season and 6-5 in Empire 8 play.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Trailing 21-12 in the opening set, the Knights were able to turn the momentum in their favor and win nine of the next 10 points to only be down one point at 22-21. Maddy Baumann highlighted the run for Geneseo with three kills. The Knights went on to tie the score at 24-24, but the Gators were able to escape with the first set win at 26-24.
- After dropping the second set 25-13, Geneseo found themselves trailing early in the third set at 11-5. However, a block and a kill from Madison Gamberg helped give the Knights some momentum as they rattled off five straight points to make the score 11-10. Unfortunately, Geneseo was unable to complete the rally and fell in the final set 25-19.
QUICK FACTS:
- Baumann led the offense with an impressive hitting performance, tallying nine kills and a .500 hitting percentage. Gamberg also turned in a solid offensive day with six kills and a .313 hitting percentage.
- Jenna Garvey dished out 12 assists for the Knights, while Zooey Gagnier totaled a match-high 14 digs.

Geneseo will head to Buffalo St. on Saturday, Nov. 9 for a tri-match against Buffalo St. and John Carroll.
