Men's Basketball Falls At Hamilton

CLINTON, N.Y. - The SUNY Geneseo men's basketball team came up short on the road Tuesday evening, falling to Hamilton 93-76. The defeat drops the Knights to 1-2 on the season, while the Continentals improve to 2-1.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • Geneseo had control early, with Michael Gentile draining a three early on to break a 6-6 tie, and then Robert Pericolosi converting a layup at the 15 minute mark to extend the lead to four points at 13-9. Both teams went on to trade leads in the following minutes, but Pericolosi gave the Knights their biggest lead of the period after sinking a three to bring the score to 32-27.
  • Unfortunately, the Continentals were able to flip the momentum before halftime by scoring 21 points in the final 5:30, giving them a 48-40 advantage going into the locker rooms.
  • Hamilton continued to put the pressure on Geneseo, extending its lead to 20 points in the first six minutes of the second half. The Knights attempted to make a late run, with a layup by Trevor Hofer at the six minute mark cutting into the Continentals lead, but it was not enough and they fell 93-76.
QUICK FACTS:
  • Five Knights reached double-digit scoring, with Michael Gentile leading the way at 14. Josh Garelle (12), Hofer (11), Pericolosi (10), and Drew Morrow (10) were the others to reach the double-digit mark.
  • Pericolosi chipped in a team-high six rebounds, while Pacheco dished out a team-high four assists.
