GENESEO, N.Y. - The SUNY Geneseo women's basketball team hosted Whitman College on Monday, Nov. 11, but couldn't pull out the win in their home opener falling 74-51. The Knights move to 1-1 on the season with loss and their season-opening win over RIT on Friday.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Whitman got off to a hot start in the game, shooting 64 percent from the field in the first quarter. However, the Knights defense tightened up in the second quarter, holding the Blues to just 35 percent shooting from the field and winning the quarter 21-15 to cut the lead to nine points at halftime. Audrey Hintz highlighted the second quarter for Geneseo, scoring eight of their 21 points in the frame.
- The Knights kept their momentum going in the third quarter, cutting the lead down to five points right away with a chance to make it a one possession game. Unfortunately, Geneseo was unable to capitalize and cut the Whitman advantage below five points.
- Geneseo's defense continued to shine in the fourth quarter, holding the Blues to just 12 points, but they were unable to mount a comeback and ultimately fell 74-51.

Geneseo will travel to Oswego on Friday, Nov. 15 for a tournament, where they will take on Amherst in the opening round at 7:30 p.m.
