HOUGHTON, N.Y. - The No. 18 SUNY Geneseo field hockey team traveled to Houghton on Tuesday, Oct. 29 for their final Empire 8 regular season contest, and earned a 2-0 victory. The win finishes off an unbeaten conference season for the Knights and the regular season title with a record of 9-0, while improving to 16-1 overall on the season.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

• Ella Greico wasted no time putting the Knights ahead in the game, scoring just over two minutes into the action with an unassisted goal.
• Entering the second quarter with the 1-0 lead, Greico came through early in the quarter once again for the Knights. This time, the New Hartford, N.Y. native scored in under 30 seconds to make it a 2-0 lead for Geneseo.
• The 2-0 advantage was all that was needed for the Knights defense, holding the Highlanders to just six total shots with only one reaching target as Geneseo closed out the road win.

QUICK FACTS:

• Greico's pair of goals improves her season total to 15 goals, good enough for second on the team behind Katrina Clare with 16.
• The Knights current regular season record of 16-1 marks their best record since the 2010 season, where they finished the regular season 18-1.
