Women's Basketball Picks Up 72-57 Victory Over Oswego

OSWEGO, N.Y. - The SUNY Geneseo women's basketball team bounced back with a 72-57 victory on Saturday afternoon in a road matchup at Oswego. The win improves the Knights to 7-4 overall and 2-2 in SUNYAC action.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • Kiley Snow helped Geneseo get off to a fast start, netting the first five points of the contest. The Knights kept the momentum going, and ultimately led by nine after the opening 10 minutes. Maggie McGrane capped off the strong first quarter with a three in the final minute.
  • The Lakers responded strongly in the second quarter, quickly cutting the Geneseo lead down to just three points. A three point shot by Hannah Stockman on the following possession helped the Knights keep the lead, but Oswego continued their strong play and only trailed by one heading to halftime.
  • With the score tied at 44 halfway through the third quarter, Geneseo dug deep and found their rhythm. They closed the quarter on an 11-2 run, which was highlighted by seven-straight points from Kerry Dennin.
  • The Knights big run to close the third quarter proved to be enough to close out the Lakers. Two unanswered baskets from Mackenzie Reigle down the stretch helped seal the conference victory for Geneseo.
QUICK FACTS:
  • Dennin notched her second double-double of the weekend, tallying 24 points and 10 rebounds.
  • Snow joined Dennin in the double-digit scoring category, recording 17 of her own.
  • Geneseo shot 45.6 percent from the field, while holding the Lakers to just 34.4 percent.
