Women's Basketball Stays Hot, Defeats Plattsburgh 56-43

GENESEO, N.Y. - The SUNY Geneseo women's basketball team took on the Plattsburgh Cardinals at home and came away with a 56-43 victory on Friday night. The win marked the Knights' eighth straight victory and now sit at 14-4 overall and 9-2 in SUNYAC play this season.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • The Knights' offense immediately clicked in the first quarter as senior guard Kiley Snow scored the team's first eleven points, hitting a trio of three-point shots in the first four minutes of action. Geneseo went on a 13-point run in the middle of the quarter and a jumper by sophomore guard Maggie McGrane sealed the squad's 18-4 lead heading into the first break.
  • The game evened out in the second frame with the Knights' defense allowing 17 points. However, the offense stayed resilient and fought for 18 points with the help of a late jumper from freshman forward Audrey Hintz to send the game to halftime.
  • Geneseo continued to outscore the Cardinals in the third as three-pointers from graduate guard Hannah Stockman and freshman forward Kristin Suydam paved the way to give the Knights a 48-31 lead into the final quarter.
  • Senior forward Kerry Dennin's five points along with another three-point shot from Suydam halted any chance of a comeback from Plattsburgh in the final ten minutes and sealed Geneseo's 56-43 victory.
QUICK FACTS:
  • Snow led the Knights in scoring with 17 points while Dennin and Hintz were right behind with 11 and 10 points, respectively.
  • Snow and Dennin added a team-leading eight rebounds each while junior guard Mackenzie Reigle put up a team-high in assists with six.
  • This victory marks the Knights' 18th consecutive win against Plattsburgh.
