HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • After early back and forth between the two teams, a run by Plattsburgh helped them take the lead over the Knights 26-15 midway through the first half.
  • Plattsburgh led by 14 with under a minute but Cole Kattan hit a step back three to cut the lead to eleven and give the Knights some momentum going into the locker room at half.
  • To start the half, Geneseo came out hot scoring seven unanswered to cut the deficit to 42-38 thanks to multiple baskets by Robert Pericolosi
  • With 2:45 remaining to play, the Cardinals led by six points at 62-56, but a jump shot from Pericolosi and then layup and three from Kattan put the Knights ahead by one. Plattsburgh answered with a jump shot of their own to go up 64-63 with 33 seconds left, but then a big driving layup from freshman Josh Garelle put Geneseo back ahead. The Cardinals were unable to capitalize on their final attempts to win down the stretch and the Knights held on for the 66-64 win.
