Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

Women's Basketball Nabs Seventh-Straight Win, 64-37 Over Buffalo St.

BUFFALO, N.Y. - The SUNY Geneseo women's basketball team traveled to Buffalo and faced off against the Buffalo State Bengals on Tuesday evening. The Knights came out on top 64-37 for their seventh straight victory and now sit at 13-4 overall and 8-2 in SUNYAC play this season.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • The Knights' offense hit the ground running with a jumper from junior guard Mackenzie Reigle setting the tone for a solid performance in the first quarter. Three-point shots from graduate guard Hannah Stockman and senior guard Kiley Snow led the way as Geneseo's defense held the Bengals without a basket for over six minutes in the opening frame.
  • Back-to-back baskets from senior forward Kerry Dennin and freshman forward Kristin Suydam early in the second quarter put the Knights up by twelve. Two late minute threes by Snow along with a last-second jumper from Dennin sent Geneseo to the half with a 33-20 lead.
  • Out of the break, the Knights were clicking on all cylinders as they outscored Buffalo State 21-9 in the third quarter. Geneseo began the period on a six-point run and ended on an eight-point streak thanks to a jumper from sophomore guard Eva Elliott and more timely three-pointers from Snow.
  • The Knights were able to hold the Bengals to only eight points in the final quarter as late jumpers from junior forward Brianna Beebe and graduate forward Madison Hoyt sealed Geneseo's 64-37 victory over their SUNYAC rivals.
QUICK FACTS:
  • Snow led the Knights in scoring with 20 points while going 6-9 from three-point range.
  • Dennin added a team-leading 13 rebounds while Reigle, sophomore guard Maggie McGrane, and senior guard Kelly McLaughlin tied for the lead in assists with three each.
  • This victory marks the Knights' 20th consecutive win against Buffalo State.
