Strong Fourth Quarter Propels Women's Basketball To Win Over Brockport

GENESEO, N.Y. - The SUNY Geneseo women's basketball team faced off against the Brockport Golden Eagles on Saturday afternoon. The Knights took down the Golden Eagles 67-60 for their sixth straight victory and now sit at 12-4 overall and 7-2 in SUNYAC play this season.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • The Knights opened up the first quarter against Brockport with a quick layup by senior guard Kiley Snow. Snow went on to hit a trio of three pointers in the quarter and propelled Geneseo to an 18-18 tie after the frame.
  • The second quarter saw the Knights come out strong on offense with Snow continuing her hot streak and draining another four three-point shots by halftime. The guard finished the first half with 25 points while senior forward Kerry Dennin and freshman forward Audrey Hintz added further attacks on offense to give Geneseo a 34-32 lead before the break.
  • Coming out of the half, the Knights struggled to find openings outside of the paint, however Dennin and Hintz kept Geneseo in reaching distance heading into the final quarter of play.
  • The Knights came out of the short break in-between quarters and completely dominated in the final ten minutes. Graduate student Hannah Stockman hit a three-point shot at the midway point in the quarter to break a 55-55 tie, and the team went to the free throw line six separate times to create a substantial lead down the stretch. Geneseo outscored Brockport 20-7 in the fourth, en route to a 67-60 victory.
