Women's Basketball Earns Fourth-Straight Win, 67-58 Over Plattsburgh

PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. - The SUNY Geneseo women's basketball team traveled to Plattsburgh and took down the Cardinals 67-58 on Saturday afternoon. The Knights earned their fourth-straight win and now sit at 10-4 overall and 5-2 in SUNYAC play this season.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • The Knights opened up action against the Cardinals with a successful three-pointer by graduate guard Hannah Stockman. Stockman hit another shot from behind the arc in the first quarter, but Geneseo's defense struggled against their SUNYAC rivals and they went into the second frame down 20-11.
  • The second quarter saw senior guard Kiley Snow and freshman forward Audrey Hintz take over on offense as the Knights put up 20 points behind 18 points combined between the two players. Geneseo's offensive efficiency led them to come back and take a four-point lead before the half.
  • The offensive production for each squad took a backseat in the third quarter as both defenses came out of the break ready to make an impact. A last-second three-pointer by freshman forward Kristin Suydam put the Knights up by four with ten minutes left to play.
  • Suydam opened the fourth quarter with a bang and another three-pointer as Geneseo's offense reclaimed their earlier successes. Solid defense, along with late free throws by junior guard Mackenzie Reigle sealed the 67-58 victory over Plattsburgh.
QUICK FACTS:
  • Hintz led the Knights in scoring with 20 points, with Stockman (14) and Snow (13) right behind.
  • Senior forward Kerry Dennin added a team-leading nine rebounds while also hitting seven free throws against the Cardinals.
  • This victory marks the Knights' 17th consecutive win against Plattsburgh.
