Men's Basketball Defeats Plattsburgh, 80-66

PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. - The SUNY Geneseo men's basketball team bounced back from a tough loss on Friday night with a convincing 80-66 victory at Plattsburgh on Saturday afternoon. The win improves the Knights to 6-8 overall and 3-4 in SUNYAC action.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • Michael Gentile and Cole Kattan got the offense going early for the Knights, with Gentile dropping two shots from deep and Kattan netting six points of his own to give the Knights the 12-6 lead just four minutes in.
  • The Cardinals were able to climb their way back into the first half, tying the score at 21-21. However, Geneseo quickly bounced back and went on an 8-0 run to help secure their lead going into halftime.
  • Plattsburgh was able to hang around for most of the second half, keeping the Knights lead in single digits, but free throws from Robert Pericolosi and Josh Garelle along with a layup from Kattan helped push Geneseo's lead to 12 points at 63-51 with nine minutes left to play.
  • The Knights led by as many as 16 points down the stretch and their defensive efforts helped hold back any comeback attempts from the Cardinals.

QUICK FACTS:
