Women's Basketball Kicks Off Road Trip With 78-48 Win Over Potsdam

POTSDAM, N.Y. - The SUNY Geneseo women's basketball team traveled to Potsdam to take on the Bears and came away with a commanding 78-48 victory on Friday night. The Knights now sit at 9-4 overall and 4-2 in SUNYAC play this season.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • After a quiet first four minutes of action, the Knights' offense went on an eleven point run throughout the first quarter highlighted by a three-pointer from senior guard Kiley Snow. Snow finished the quarter with ten points as Geneseo took a 20-6 lead into the second period. 
  • The Knights started off right where they left off in the second, with a three-pointer by junior guard Mackenzie Reigle setting the Knights in motion for a seven-point run. Geneseo outscored Potsdam 19-13 behind some solid defense to take a 20 point lead into halftime. 
  • Geneseo's offensive production continued after the break as they put up 21 more points behind three pointers by graduate guard Hannah Stockman. The Knights spread the ball around well with seven players scoring in the frame. 
  • The fourth quarter saw Geneseo come in with a 60-36 lead while continuing their production. A late jumper by junior forward Brianna Beebe and three pointer by senior guard Brooke Woodard sealed the Knights' 78-48 win over their SUNYAC rivals. 
QUICK FACTS:
  • Snow led the Knights in scoring with 14 points, as Stockman and freshman forward Audrey Hintz added another 13 each. 
  • Hintz and freshman forward Kristin Suydam each added a team-leading seven rebounds against the Bears. 
  • Junior guard Mackenzie Reigle posted a team-high six assists in the game while guards Kelly McLaughlin (senior) and Maggie McGrane (sophomore) each posted five.

The Knights will stay on the road to take on the Plattsburgh Cardinals on Saturday, Jan. 13 at 2 p.m.
