Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Second Half Comeback Comes Up Short For Men's Basketball At Potsdam

POTSDAM, N.Y. - The SUNY Geneseo men's basketball team couldn't complete its second-half comeback at Potsdam on Friday evening, falling to the Bears 95-87. The Knights dip to 5-8 on the season and 2-4 in SUNYAC action.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • With the Knights struggling offensively to open the game, Michael Gentile was able to find a shot from behind the arc to tie the game at 4-4 just under four minutes into the action. Later in the half, a layup from Josh Garelle tied the score once again, this time at 19 with about nine minutes left to play before halftime.
  • The Bears were able to get on a run just before halftime, and take a 14-point lead into the break.
  • Geneseo trailed by as many as 20 points early in the second half, but they weren't ready to back down and began their comeback attempt. Ethan Meisel stepped up and drained a big three to cut the lead to just five points for Potsdam, at 72-67 with 7:47 remaining in the game. Later in the half, Robert Pericolosi converted a jump shot to cut it down to a one possession game at 79-77.
  • Unfortunatley, the Knights weren't able to capitalize on any of their opportunities to complete the comeback, and the Bears escaped with a 95-87 victory.

QUICK FACTS:
  • Pericolosi led the team in scoring with 20 points on 10-12 shooting from the field. Meisel and Cole Kattan joined him in double-digits at 15 and 13 points, respectively.
  • Josh Garelle was the top rebounder for Geneseo with nine rebounds, while Pericolosi chipped in eight.
  • Sebastian Pacheco and Cole Kattan each tallied nine assists.
