Women's Volleyball Completes Weekend Sweep With 3-0 Win Over Plattsburgh

GENESEO, N.Y. - Following a dominant win the day prior, the SUNY Geneseo women's volleyball team was able to keep their momentum and notch another one in the win column. On Saturday, Sept. 30, Geneseo swept Plattsburgh and improved their record to 6-8, and 2-0 in SUNYAC play.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Geneseo opened the first set with a quick start but quickly found themselves tied at 5-5. The Knights rebounded and put on a dominating performance. Following two service aces from Alex Ayers, the Knights took the first set 25-13.
  • Plattsburgh achieved a major comeback in the second set to tie it at 21-21. As the set went past the 25 point mark with both teams trading points, Geneseo fended off multiple set points and ultimately persevered and a big kill from Alisiana Muscoreil gave Geneseo the 33-31 victory.
  • Following the long and exhausting second set, the Cardinals hoped to rebound and force the match into a fourth set. However, Geneseo was able to break away as a late seven-point run for the Knights got them to match point, where a kill from Linda Rossi closed the door on Plattsburgh, and the Knights won the third 25-16.

QUICK FACTS
  • Alisiana Muscoreil led the Knights with 8 kills, marking her season-high. Muscoreil now has 48 kills this season.
  • Jenna Garvey dished out 16 assists against the Cardinals, giving her 132 for the 2023 season.
WHAT'S NEXT
The Knights will be travelling to Oneonta on Friday, Oct. 6, for their third SUNYAC match this season. Geneseo will look to improve their conference record to 3-0 during their 6pm game.
