Women's Soccer Opens SUNYAC Play With 2-0 Win Over Fredonia

FREDONIA, N.Y. - The SUNY Geneseo women's soccer team took down Fredonia 2-0 on the road on Wednesday night in their first SUNYAC contest. The shutout helped to improve their season record to 5-1-1.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The first half was evenly matched with each team putting up seven shots in the first 45 minutes.
  • Senior forward Juliette Frischmann found the back of the net at the 35-minute mark to put the Knights ahead by one before the break.
  • Less than ten minutes into the second half, senior midfielder Dana Schoeps recorded a goal to add to Geneseo's lead.  
  • The Knights' defense acted like a brick wall in the second half as they did not allow a shot in the final seven minutes of play.
  • Junior goalkeeper Mollie Collins tallied seven saves to secure Geneseo's fourth shutout of the season. 
QUICK FACTS
  • Frischmann now has four goals on the season, while Schoeps has two in the Knights' first seven games. 
  • Seniors Kylie Mann (back) and Julia McHugh (midfielder) also put up shots on goal against the Blue Devils.
  • Collins' seven saves in the game brought her season total to 31.
