Men's Soccer Picks Up 4-2 Victory Over Skidmore In Home Opener

GENESEO, N.Y. - The SUNY Geneseo men's soccer team claimed their first win of the season on Saturday afternoon as the Knights defeated Skidmore 4-2, giving them a 1-0-1 record early on this season.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Geneseo scored early with a goal at 06:26 from Dylan Thody as he took a great pass from Stefen Nikolic and rocketed the shot past the goalkeeper on the near post.
  • The Knights' scored again in the first half, at 21:29, as Vasion Sinjari found the back of the net following the setup from Justin Arilotta. Geneseo took the 2-0 lead into halftime.
  • Geneseo wasn't done as Caden Brunken and Evan Lodie both scored a goal, only 5 minutes apart in the second half to push the lead to 4-0.
  • Skidmore scored 2 late goals, one of which came from a penalty kick. When the clock expired, the Knights claimed a 4-2 victory.
 
QUICK FACTS
  • The goal scored by Caden Brunken marks the first of his Geneseo career.
  • The fourth goal of the game was scored by Evan Lodie, also the first of his Geneseo career.
  • Vincent Maronski Jr. played all 90 minutes in goal for the win and tallied two saves.
