Women's Soccer Holds On For 2-1 Victory Over RIT

GENESEO, N.Y. - The SUNY Geneseo women's soccer team defeated RIT 2-1 at College Stadium on Saturday night. The victory improved their season record to 4-1-1.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Knights recorded six shots in the first half and found the back of the net once on a goal by senior forward Liv Raucci.
  •  Junior goalkeeper Mollie Collins tallied two saves to secure Geneseo's lead going into halftime.
  • The Knights didn't wait long to attack out of the break as grad student Lindsay Wright put the team up 2-0 only 30 seconds into the second half. 
  • The Tigers answered promptly and brought the deficit to within one with just under 40 minutes left to play. 
  • Geneseo was able to keep RIT's offense quiet the rest of the way and after surviving a pair of corner kicks in the final two minutes, were victorious by a score of 2-1. 
QUICK FACTS
  • Tonight's goals stand as Wright's fourth and Rauci's first of the season.
  • Midfielders Lindsay Matthews (junior) and Dana Schoeps (senior) also put up shots on goal in the contest.
  • Collins recorded two saves in the matchup, to bring her season total to 24 through six games.
