Women's Volleyball Sweeps SUNY Poly In Home Opener

GENESEO, N.Y. - The SUNY Geneseo women's volleyball team celebrated its home opener on Tuesday night with a three-set win over SUNY Poly, 25-10, 25-13, 25-15.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Knights were dominant on the offensive end in the first set, registering a hitting percentage of .550 with 11 kills on 20 attempts with no errors. Kills from Peyton Cole and Tori Tripp late in the set helped seal the 25-10 victory.
  • In the second set, Geneseo ran out to a 6-0 start and never looked back. Shannon Zembrzycki stepped up down the stretch for the Knights, tallying three kills in the final four points won by Geneseo.
  • With the score tied at 2-2 early in the third set, the Knights won six of the next seven points to regain momentum and control of the match. Geneseo went on to win the set 25-15 off a kill from Tripp.

QUICK FACTS
  • Tripp led the offense with a .600 hitting percentage, tallying six kills on 10 attempts with no errors. Zembrzycki, Madison Baumann, and Sommer Madigan all recorded five kills.
  • Allie Driesen dished out 13 assists, while Carolyn Mack chipped in 11. Defensively, Alex Ayers led the team with eight digs, while Cecilia Dignan put up seven.
  • The Knights now hold a 5-0 advantage over the Wildcats in head to head matchups.

Geneseo will travel to the Bomber Invitational at Ithaca, for three matches over two days on Friday and Saturday.
