SUNYAC CHAMPIONS!! Women's Track and Field Win 6th Straight Title

DAY 1 RECAP
ONEONTA, N.Y.
 - SUNY Geneseo began their quest for their 6th consecutive State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Championship today at the SUNYAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships.

After Day one, the Knights lead the board with a total of 69 points scored. Katherine Vogel led five Knights to scoring in the 10,000m with her 2nd place finish helping the Knights score 19 points in the race. Ayaka Machida and Skyler Klimow finished 2nd and 3rd in the Javelin Throw. They led four Knights to a top eight finish and a combined score of 19 points in the event. 

Kayla Huba finished 2nd in the Long Jump to secure eight points and lead four Knights to a top eight finish. Gwen Shepardson ran a blazing 14.14 to secure the top spot in tomorrow's 100mh final (12:30pm). Her time was a meet and school record. Shepardson also qualified for the 400mh final (1:25pm).

The Knight's will look to continue their momentum tomorrow for Day 2 at Oneonta.

DAY 2 RECAP
ONEONTA, N.Y. - SUNY Geneseo completed their quest for their sixth consecutive SUNYAC title today at the SUNYAC Outdoor Track & Field Championship. The Knights finished with a total of 291 points to earn the program's 15th conference championship.

On the track, Rachel Hirschkind started off the title defense with a first place finish in the 3000m steeplechase. Hirschkind's time of 10:41.21 was a new meet record. Gwen Shepardson won the 100mh with a blazing time of 13.87. Shepardson's time is a new school record, tied for the conference record, and puts her third in the nation.

Geneseo continued their dominant reign in the Heptathlon. Janelle Eckl won with 4147 points and fellow teammate Lanna Wandy finished second. Erin Eivers led five Knights to place within the top eight in the 1500m. Eivers won the event with a time of 4:35.16. Her teammates, Marcie Hogan and Sierra Doody finished second, and third to round the top three.

The Knights finished first though fifth and seventh in the 5000m run to combine for 35 points. The 35 points marked the highest scored event from the weekend. Penelope Greene won the event with a time of 17:12.42, while Windsor Ardner and Lilly Fowler-Conner rounded out the top three for the Knights.

In the field, Ally Alvira won the Triple Jump with a mark of 11.68m. Teammates Katelyn Jacques and Lena Kiehl placed second and fourth to combine for a total of 23 points in the event. Skyler Klimow brought the energy from yesterday's Javelin event and won the Discus Throw with a mark of 39.56m. Klimow's throw improves her personal best and inches closer to the school record. 

The Knights will enjoy the title defense and be back Monday, May 15th for the Swarthmore Final Qualifier.
