Men's Lacrosse Cruises into SUNYAC Finals with 21-3 Win over New Paltz

GENESEO, N.Y. - The SUNY Geneseo men's lacrosse team has punched their ticket to the SUNYAC Championship after beating the New Paltz Hawks, 21-3. The Knights recorded their 14th win of the season, marking a new program record for wins in a season.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Jimmy Atkinson started it up early for the Knights notching two goals in the first five minutes. Six more goals added to the 8-0 total in the first quarter, all scored by different Geneseo attackers.
  • Brady Sullivan started up the 2nd quarter with a goal, and the Knights extended their lead to 12-1 heading into halftime.
  • New Paltz added back-to-back goals in the third quarter, but the Geneseo offense continued to control the action and the Knights led 19-3 after 45 minutes of play.
  • Geneseo dominated the fourth, not allowing any goals, and tacked on two more goals to make the final score 21-3.

QUICK FACTS

  • Jimmy Atkinson led all scorers with four goals, Christian Marcello trailed with three and Brady Sullivan with two.
  • Thirteen different Geneseo players were able to score, contributing to the 21-3 victory.
  • Face off specialists, BB Syrop, Jake Starkley and Cade Spencer collectively went 16-28.
  • Mark Pav and Wes Ralph played the majority of the game in net today and came up with six and five saves, respectively.
