ROCHESTER, N.Y. - The SUNY Geneseo men's track and field team competed at RIT on Saturday, April 8.
Lance Jensen provided a big highlight for the Knights, setting a school record in the 100m with a time of 10.85. Also , creating a highlight for Geneseo was
Brett Patmore, who recorded a distance of 54.37m in the javelin, good enough for second-best in program history. Head Coach
Chris Popovici noted that it was the best throw at Geneseo in the past 35 years. Chris Davis recorded a high jump of 1.99m, marking the fourth best high jump in program history, and the best in the SUNYAC so far this season.
Ezra Ruggles took the top spot in the 1500m, with an impressive time of 3:51.74. The Knights placed three other runners in the top six, with
Nick Andrews taking second,
Nick Baumann in fourth, and
Dillon McClary in sixth.
Bryan Jacobs and
Brendan Style took second and third, respectively, in the 110m hurdles. Geneseo continued to shine in the 400m, putting four runners in the top eight.
Jacob Miller took first at 48.73, while
Jason Rappazzo,
John Goldszer, and
Andrew Kent earning third, fourth, and eighth, respectively. In the 800m, the Knights took the top four spots, led by
Kieran Sheridan at 1:53.03. Ruggles was right behind him at 1:53.78, while
Joshua Goldberg and
Alec Andrews rounded out the top 4.
Jensen picked up his second, first-place finish of the day in the 400 hurdles, with a time of 54.60. Kent tacked on another first-place spot for Geneseo, crossing the finish line in the 200m at 22.31. Closing out the track events for the meet was the 1600 relay, where
Alec Andrews,
Bryan Friedel,
Brett Doxsee, and
Matthew Sheehan took first place in 3:19.33. In the field events, Jacobs took second in the long jump at 6.58m.
