Women's Lacrosse Takes Down New Paltz, 11-2

NEW PALTZ, N.Y. - The SUNY Geneseo women's lacrosse team went on the road and defeated New Paltz, 11-2, on Saturday afternoon. The victory improved the Knights to 10-3 overall and 6-0 in the SUNYAC.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Knights and Hawks were locked in a defensive battle for the first 15 minutes of play, with Emily Salanger notching the lone goal of the quarter with five minutes left in the quarter to give Geneseo the 1-0 lead.
  • More impressive defense from the Knights and goals from Salanger, Molly Brown, and Megan Cook extended the lead to 4-1 at halftime.
  • Geneseo dominated the second half of play, outscoring New Paltz 7-1 to secure the 11-2 victory.

QUICK FACTS
  • Salanger was dominant for the Knights on offense, racking up five points with four goals and one assist. Cook added three points while four different Knights added two points.
  • Defensively, Maggie Rosaschi earned the win in goal with six saves, while Geneseo caused 16 turnovers as a team. Tricia Curran led the way with six caused turnovers and four ground balls.
  • Geneseo has now won all 17 matchups against New Paltz.
