Women's Lacrosse Falls at St. Lawrence

CANTON, N.Y. - The SUNY Geneseo women's lacrosse team couldn't outlast St. Lawrence as they fell 14-10 on Wednesday afternoon. The road defeat drops the Knights to 1-1 on the season.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Knights got off to a slow start as the Saints jumped ahead to a 2-0 lead in the first eight minutes of action. Junior Molly Brown got Geneseo on the board with 6:56 left in the opening quarter, followed by back-to-back goals from freshman Alaina Reina.
  • Reegan Vorgang added a goal late in the second quarter to put the Knights up 7-5, but St. Lawrence responded to make the score 7-6 at the end of the half.
  • Geneseo was outscored 4-1 in the third quarter, with the lone goal from junior Emily Salanger. 
  • The Knights were unable to build enough comeback momentum in the fourth quarter and ultimately fell 14-10.
QUICK FACTS
  • Geneseo had five different goal scorers in the game, while Reina and Salanger led the team with three goals each. Salanger also added a team-best seven draw controls.
  • Molly Brown also scored two goals and Megan Cook led the team with two assists.
  • Junior goalkeeper Emily DeJohn tallied one save and Maggie Roasaschi tallied four saves.

The Knights will take on William Smith at College Stadium on Saturday, March 11 in a 1 p.m. start.
