Second Half Run From Women's Lacrosse Comes Up Short Against Kenyon

PANAMA CITY BEACH, FL. - The SUNY Geneseo women's lacrosse team had their comeback attempt against Kenyon College come up short on Tuesday night in Florida. The 11-10 loss drops the Knights to 1-2 overall.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Kenyon got off to a hot start, scoring five goals in under six minutes to take a commanding early lead. Alaina Reina and Maira Brennan scored back-to-back goals to put the Knights on the board later in the first quarter, but Kenyon got the last goal during the final minute to make it a 6-2 lead heading to the second quarter.
  • Geneseo trailed by as many as six goals at 8-2, back a pair of goals from Emily Salanger and one in the final 11 seconds from Molly Brown helped give the Knights some momentum heading into the second half. Kenyon held onto a 9-5 lead after the second quarter.
  • The Knights scored four unanswered goals in the second half, with two from Brown, one from Sophie Lyko and one from Reegan Vorgang, and they tied the game at 10-10 in the fourth quarter. However, Kenyon got the final goal and escaped with the 11-10 win.

  • Brown led the offense with four points on three goals and an assist, while Lyko and Salanger each tallied two goals.
  • Maggie Rosaschi played the final three quarters in goal, and totaled eight saves with five goals allowed.
