NEW YORK CITY - The SUNY Geneseo men's track and field team traveled to New York City this weekend for the All-Atlantic Region Track and Field Conference (AARTFC) Championships, and left with a first-place finish. The Knights beat out Cortland by six points, scoring 72 to lead the field of 42 teams.
Lance Jensen provided a highlight for Geneseo, earning 10 points and a first-place finish in the 200m. Jensen crossed the finish line in 21.60, setting a new meet record. Joining Jensen with a record-setting performance, was
Ezra Ruggles in the mile run with a time of 4:06.03. Ruggles time marked a new meet record, while
Nick Andrews finished second in the race with a time of 4:08.04, which also beat the previous meet record. Ruggles and Andrews combined to earn 18 points for the Knights in the race.
In the 400m,
Jacob Miller,
Jason Rappazzo, and
John Goldszer all earned top eight finishes, finishing fourth, fifth, and eighth, respectively. The trio earned another 10 points for the Knights, while
Stephen Hoare and
Matthew Sheehan added another 13 in the 800m by taking second and fourth place, respectively.
Alex Hillyard led Geneseo in the 5000m, finishing the race in fourth place with a time of 15:00.01. In the 4x200 relay, Jensen, Rappazzo,
Judson Delaney, and
Andrew Kent took second place with a time of 1:28.59 for another eight points towards the Knights total.
Bryan Jacobs added eight points in the field events, taking second in the long jump at 7.10m.
