Second Half Struggles Plague Men's Lacrosse at Clarkson

POTSDAM, N.Y. - The SUNY Geneseo men's lacrosse team capped off a three-game road trip at Clarkson on Saturday afternoon, and fell in a closely contested game, 12-10. The loss drops Geneseo to 4-3 on the season.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Knights got off to a hot start, jumping ahead 4-1 in the first quarter. Geneseo saw goals from four different players, William McCumiskey, Jack Helrigel, Robert Boneillo, and Jimmy Atkinson.
  • Geneseo continued to put the pressure on Clarkson, scoring two more goals to open up the second quarter and take a 6-1 lead. Atkinson added his second goal of the game later in the quarter, to help the Knights hold onto a 7-4 advantage heading into halftime.
  • Clarkson came out strong in the second half, scoring eight unanswered goals to make it a 12-7 advantage. Spencer Frank and Christian Marcello, Jr. combined for three straight goals late in the fourth quarter, but it wasn't enough to close the gap and Geneseo fell, 12-10.

QUICK FACTS
  • McCumiskey led the offensive effort with four points on two goals and two assists, while Marcello and Atkinson each added two goals as well.
  • Mark Pav played all 60 minutes in goal and tallied 20 saves.
  • BB Syrop went 13-26 on faceoffs for the Knights.
