SANLANDO PARK, Fl. - The SUNY Geneseo women's tennis team dropped a hard-fought match to Salve Regina in Florida on Wednesday, March 15. The loss drops the Knights to 4-7 overall this season.
The Knights were unable to pull out a point in doubles action, with
Kylie Seiler and
Abigail Rockwood coming up just short in second doubles with a score of 8-6.
Katie Kujawa and
Julia Kimmel fell at third doubles, 8-4, while
Alex Galle and
Rory Tobin fell at first doubles 8-2.
In singles action, Galle led the way by earning a close victory at first singles, 7-6 (4), 6-3. Geneseo battled across the board in singles, but ultimately dropped three matches in a third-set super tiebreaker. Tobin fell at second singles by a score of 5-7, 6-4 (10-7), Seiler at third singles 6-2, 3-6 (10-6), and Rockwood at fourth singles 6-2, 3-6 (10-6). Kujawa and Kimmel dropped their matches at fifth and sixth singles with scores of 6-4, 6-3 and 6-3, 6-0, respectively.
Geneseo will get back on the court tomorrow against Emerson at the USTA Tennis Center at 11 a.m.
