Men's Indoor Track and Field Shines at NCAA Championships, Earn Program-Best Third Place Finish

Birmingham, A.L. - The SUNY Geneseo men's track and field team traveled to the Crossplex in Birmingham, Alabama to compete in the two day NCAA Division III Indoor National Championships. Day one was highlighted by the Distance Medley Relay (DMR) capturing first place behind the team of Ezra Ruggles (1200m), Jason Rappazzo (400m), Stephen Hoare  (800m), and Nick Andrews (Mile). The Knights came together to run a new championship meet record of 9:48.39, marking Geneseo's second DMR National Title in program history.

In the 200m, Lance Jensen qualified for the finals with a time of 21.53 and will be seeded 7th overall heading into day 2. Jensen also led the men's 4x400m with Kieran Sheridan, Jacob Miller, and John Goldszer to a 3:15.19 which placed them 8th overall and a ticket to tomorrow's finals. In the Mile, Ezra Ruggles had the fastest preliminary time with a season's best, 4:06.62. 

Sheridan also ran the open 400m and placed 12th overall with a time of 48.48, while Bryan Jacobs competed in the long jump and placed 9th overall with a jump of 7.05m.

DAY 2 - The SUNY Geneseo men's track and field team took on day two of the NCAA Division III Indoor National Championships on Saturday. The Knights tied for 3rd overall in team score with 32 points, marking the best finish in program history. Highlighting day two was Lance Jensen, Jason Rappazzo, Kieran Sheridan, and Jacob Miller capturing 1st place in the 4x400m relay. The Knights came together to run a new championship meet record of 3:11.64. The first place finish marked Geneseo's first 4x400m National title in program history.  

In the Mile, Ezra Ruggles ran a 4:04.88 to place 3rd overall and claim his 2nd All-American status. His time was also a new school record. In the 200m, Jensen placed 7th overall with a time of 21.60 to become an All-American. Nick Andrews competed in the 3000m and placed 5th overall to help score points for the team total and claim his 2nd All-American honors of the meet.

The Knights will have a couple weeks off before the outdoor season gets underway. They will be back in action when they host the Geneseo Early Season Invite on 3/31-4/1.
