ROCHESTER, N.Y. - The SUNY Geneseo women's lacrosse team traveled to Nazareth College and opened up the 2023 season with a dominant 18-10 victory over the Golden Flyers.

HOW IT HAPPENED

• Nazareth opened the scoring with a goal, but the Knights were quick to respond, and tied the score 1-1 with a goal from Alaina Reina.
• The Golden Eagles were able to keep the score close early on, and closed out the first quarter with a 4-3 lead over the Knights.
• Molly Brown scored two goals to help the Knights pull away in the second quarter as they took a 10-5 lead into halftime.
• During the third quarter, Maddie Brown scored back-to-back goals within a minute and a half from each other.
• Geneseo kept that momentum going and the Knights were able to extend their lead to eight goals before the end of the game.

QUICK FACTS

• Madelynn Brown led the offensive effort with seven points on four goals and three assists. Molly Brown chipped in six points on four goals and two assists.
• Freshman Alaina Reina added in three goals including her first collegiate goal. Maira Brennan also scored her first goal as a Knight.
• Caitlyn Korzeniewski, Emily Salanger, and Reegan Vorgang each tallied two goals.
• Meg Seeley led the defensive end and picked up four ground balls.
• Emily DeJohn tallied three saves over 30 minutes of action, while Maggie Rosaschi recorded eight.

The Knights will face Clarkson on Saturday, March 4 at 1 p.m. as they play their first game of the season at College Stadium.
